Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Went to older sons school Carol Concert at All Saints Church in Kingston today.  When you listen to the lyrics of carols you realise how lovely they are.

Walking in a winter wonderland

 (Dick Smith, Felix Bernard, 1934)

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Walking in a winter wonderland,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

I think of my grandpa who is slipping away now as the blue bird and my friends new baby born 6 days ago as a new bird.

J sorted through some old school books and chose a few select pieces of work to put in a special folder.   We were able to recycle 3 text books.
